2.9 CRORE INDIAN JOBSEEKERS DATA BREACH
Hi Folks, i am a Nitesh Pandey a cybersecurity enthusiast, a security analyst, and a freelance researcher.
As soon as i get the news that 2.9 crore Indian job seeker’s data leaked. I started my investigation to find out what information that data contain as the news was not clear about where the data got leaked and what information it contains.
The first thing i need for investigating is the dataset. But i don't have that. So i need to download the datasets then only i can do any investigation.
Getting the datasets.
I fire up my TOR browser and start poking in dark web to see where is the data and after 15 mins i get the source where the data was hosted.
Now as i am having a source The first thing i done is i downloaded it and scan it through antivirus. Once everything looks good that the file does not contain any backdoor and other virus i started the investigation again.
The reports were right it contains approx 2.9 crore Indians data so now you all will have a question of what data does that data sets have.
Let us first take a look at the file of the data set leaked.
In the above image, you can see that the data set contains 12 zip files that contain all the 2.9 crore data of the users.
But the only good thing is the data that has been leaked is of 2016 no data is available after 2016 which a bit good thing.
Now let us see what does the zip file contain
In the above image you can see that it contain various excel files that contain all the data.
what's inside these excel files.?
It contains Name, Email, Mobile Number, Current Employer, DOB, CURRENT CTC, and your Address.
So what should you need to do if you think if you have created an account in 2016 and before that then you should quickly change the password of your account.
